Happy Sweden Day: Girard-Perregaux 9238 Olimpico Chronograph

Posted by

The 6th of June is the Swedish national day!

So in celebration of that, here is a flagshot of the Girard-Perregaux reference 9238 Olimpico Chronograph from 1976!

Girard-Perregaux started their Olimpico Chronograph line back in 1968 Mexico Olympic Games, hence the name “Olimpico”.

The 9238 Olimpico is really a child of it’s time – big, blod Funky 70’s case. Black “Panda” three counter sub-dials. A 12h Chronograph and rotating bezel.

Even the bracelet have a Funky 70’s look. Very comfortable, but maybe not the look of everyone’s liking…

Inside is the GP Calibre 27.0, a nice manual column wheel chronograph movement based on the Valjoux 726.

Yes, Girard-Perregaux had a whole series of these Olimpico Chronographs. We will look more into these so stay tuned!
