Jaeger-LeCoultre + Girard-Perregaux = True

Well, not to start any new rumors, no merger is about to happen as far as I know!

No, I am referring to the collaboration between Jaeger-LeCoultre and Girard-Perregaux in the early 1970’s.

Two houses, one the leading manufacture of alarm watches, one leading pioneer within the quartz movement development.

Yes, in the 1970’s the hype about all being inhouse was not as strong as we see today…

There was a time when Jaeger-LeCoultre was known as “the watchmakers watchmaker”!

Here is one example of this collaboration – left, Jaeger-LeCoultre E 873 Memovox, right, Girard-Perregaux 9443 Gyromatic Alarm.

Both with very similar cases and movements…

Me and my friend CrownComfort over at the GP Chronicles will have a similar collaboration as JLC and GP did back in the 1970’s and go into details about this topic together, so stay tuned!

BTW, if you are into Girard-Perregaux, make sure to visit the GP Chronicles, the place to read about GP watches, both vintage and modern!
