Next in line of the watches I had the chance to take in photos during the Watchout Event 2019 here in Stockholm is the Jaeger-LeCoultre reference 3523570 Dazzling Rendez-Vous Moon.
Looking at this creation, I guess Marilyn Monroe was right… Diamonds are a girl’s best friend…
Not one, not T.W.O… but 168 diamonds adorn this beauty!
It is almost impossible to look at the Jaeger-LeCoultre Dazzling Rendez-Vous Moon without being blinded by all the bling… The 36 mm white gold case has double lines of diamonds around the bezel, diamonds on the dial, on the lugs and on the crown – which is the only way to fit all 168 diamonds on the front of the watch…
The diamonds absorbs and reflects the slightest glimmer of light… This can be seen in this second shot in a lower angle which let much less light in.
What is also relieved in this second shot it that the dial is almost fluorescent due to its made out of the Mother of Pearl. The contrast brings out the applied numerals and the Guilloche pattern on top of the Moon Phase.
These kind of diamond encrusted ladies watches is nothing new from Jaeger-LeCoultre…
Here is a couple of examples from 1965, the famous Calibre 101 with baguette cut diamonds all around and in the lower right corner, the reference 1004 with full diamond covered bezel.
Or this centre piece, “the most beautiful watch in the world”… Yours for the price of 10000 USD back in 1963!
No, diamonds are not a new thing… They have always been these for the ladies… But what is a more recent tradition is to combine diamonds with and complications on ladies watches!
Like here, with the Moon Phase. If you look through the history almost all ladies watches with diamonds are time only watches…
Brands finally started to catch on and make more serious watches for the ladies, not only pretty but functional as well!
Back in the 1980’s and 1990’s the ladies watches were a smaller copy of the men’s watches but with quartz movement inside…
That neglect has passed! Here we have an open case back showing the automatic movement, Calibre 925B/1. The base Calibre 925 is also used in the Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel for men.
On the wrist, I was lucky to be able to borrow a very lovely lady’s wrist to show you here – even on an evening event with low light you can see the sparkles… Just waiting for the light to burst in an explosion of rays!
