This is a true gentleman’s watch, both in looks, metal and complication!
The look; thin, slender dress watch with very nicely done details.
The metal; pink gold is in IMO a gentlemen’s choice, yes white metal is often more popular and some metals are more precious… But the look of a pink gold dress watch is hard to beat, classic!
The complication; the Moon Phases complications been around for centuries, actually invented in clocks before the minute complication!
Even if flat, the index profile is three dimensional, playing with the light and reflections. Hands are quite flat in profile but brushed in a pattern making them look deeper in profile than they really are.
The egg shell dial is not matt nor shiny but have a hue resembling some enamel dials I have seen. Another positive detail is that the Moon Phases really go the space it deserves here. Not a small peep hole where you hardly see if the Moon is there or not. The enlarged size also gives the pointer date room enough that you actually can read the date.
Even if the watch is only just under 10 mm (D: 39 mm, T: 9.9 mm), the case profile and lugs do not lack interest.
Unfortunately this piece had the plastic covers still on so the details are not shown as nicely or clearly as they are in real, but I didn’t want to rob the lucky owner (who ever that may become) of the pleasure and privilege to remove the seal!
The profile of the bezel is very deep with several levels despite the it’s name Ultra thin. The long curved lugs have some nice bevels which gives them a great look, not flat at all.
On the back you can see one of the things making this watch look deeper than it really is; the case is bevelled so that the lug tips are in the level as the case back. Often you have a level difference between the lug tips and the case back which make the case back not touching the surface is you lay the watch down with the dial upwards.
Through the open case back, the automatic Calibre 925/1 is on display. Beautiful decorated with Geneva bars both on bridges and on the pink gold rotor.
