One of the reason is that often, the execution is less exciting than the price tag that comes along with the Tourbillon…
Just a “hole” in the dial where you see the Tourbillon spin around one axis do not match the sacrifice it would take for me to get one…
But then there are others which seriously makes you think about how many kidneys you really need…
One of them, the Jaeger-LeCoultre reference 6052420 Duomètre Sphérotourbillon!
OK, the price tag is even higher, but look at Sphérotourbillon! Look how the whole dial layout is configured to integrate and give space to the tourbillon.
Often the Tourbillon is crammed into a a watch just for the sake of having a Tourbillon… Here, the Sphérotourbillon have the space to really come to life, the air to breath!
And if you ever get bored (as if) you can always just have a look at the back of the watch… The T.W.O barrels, the German silver, the beautiful decoration…
Yes, a watch which makes you dream! Since the introduction in 2012, I had the pleasure to handle this piece on several occasions, on each encounter I loose track of time…
To be very honest, I never even learned all the complications. I tried a couple of times but each time my eyes are drawn to the sphere.
If you really want to know, Google it – there are many great reviews of this watch online.
The Calibre 382 I find absolutely stunning! The heritage from pocket watch movements shine through the silver bridges, the Jaeger-LeCoultre “sun-feather” decoration, the heated blue screws and the big red jewels…
On the wrist, the magic is even greater!
Another great thing about this watch is the size, 42 mm in diameter which is perfect for my wrist… And even more importantly, “only” 14 mm thick. Many others in this category are often made as showcase pieces, really big and thick, not really comfortable on the wrist.
