Girard-Perregaux 9080 GyroDate: Ever hear of a talking watch?

Posted by

Today, talking devices are not unheard of or very uncommon for that matter… Things changes over time… Only fifty years ago…

Back in 1969, no one every heard of a talking watch! But Girard-Perregaux claimed that if the reference 9080 could talk, it would never keep quiet…

The Girard-Perregaux 9080 GyroDate that would never keep quiet:

Girard-Perregaux 9080 GyroDate – if it could talk…

This ad was posted by Girard-Perregaux in 1969: It tells the date and day for a whole month at the time, reminds of appointments, time left for parking, when to take your pill…

It even remember to wind itself, water and shock-resistant…

Seconds, minutes and hours – with unfailing accuracyBecause it’s a Girard-Perregaux!

How I love these old ads! So un-modest and straight to the point!

Girard-Perregaux 9080 GyroDate – Ever hear of a talking watch?

Wonderful watch, with a fun and useful complication – if you know how to use it…

Even if it looks like a diver, it’s not – only water-resistant, not waterproof…

I just happen to put it on a Tropical because I ran out of nice 19 mm leather straps… Maybe I should put it back on the original bracelet…

Girard-Perregaux 9080 GyroDate – not a diver

The reference 9080 was in production between 1968 and 1976, in total 1650 pieces.
