One of the limited editions I was shown last time at the manufacture, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Fagliano Limited.
Lately Jaeger-LeCoultre have released several limited editions with blue dials. For a guy like who’s nickname used to be Mr. Blue, these are very much my taste!
The Tribute Duo case in pink gold, front displaying the stunning blue sunburst dial with sub-seconds is one of them…
Yes, this model also exists in steel, to my understanding there are “only” T.W.O differences between the limited edition and the regular –
One being the obvious, the pink gold case.
The second I will have to confirm, but my understanding is that on the pink gold version the Casa Fagliano strap is made out of shell cordovan and that the blue strap on the steel version, in the same Casa Fagliano design is not.
Does it matter? As a big fan of shell cordovan straps I would say yes. This special type of horse leather strap are much more durable and resistant to sweat and water. Also if taken care of, they age in a very beautiful way compared to most other leathers.
On the backside the same elegant Guilloché dial, but with pink gold hands and markers.
Is a metal change enough to call it a limited edition? I would say yes.
Especially in the way the way this one been executed – the change of metal hands, applied index and case: it changes the character of the watch completely!
While the steel version with its white metal case comes off as a bit cold, this pink gold version is much warmer…
Question now which one to prefer…?
Personally I really love the combination of blue dial/white metal! The combination of blue and pink gold doesn’t come to me as easy… Its great looking, but to me, it tones the blue dial down a bit – good if you like it a bit more discreet, but if you like the dial to pop…
What do make me fall for this one is the back – the combination of the white Guilloché dial and the pink gold is absolutely fantastic!
The fact is that if this were my watch, this is how I would wear it – backside up, case pushed out!
I already wrote about the beauty of this dial in my look at the steel version – and in combination of the case back engraving – wow!
As much as the steel version gives a very monochrome look, here the warm contrast between the dial, hands and markers are very clear.
With age I find myself more and more drawn towards coloured gold cases and this is no exception, even if the blue dial do not stand out as much as on the steel version, the pink gold one would be my choice!
