Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night and Day Medium

I received some request to include some ladies watches on my blog… And who am I to say no to the ladies..?

Here is a modern creation – the Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day Medium to start with, but I will of course also include some vintage ladies watches as well…

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day Medium is a beautiful ladies watch! Feminin, chic, works both for everyday life as well as for the evening out.

One thing I appreciate is the fact that Jaeger-LeCoultre didn’t hold back because it’s a ladies watch.

Earlier brands often made the ladies watches with simpler movements or less well-made cases because ladies were not considered as the main target group… Things changes over time… It reflects also within watches!

The Rendez-Vous Night & Day Medium have a nice and balanced 34 mm stainless steel case. Heated blue hands, Guilloche dial divided in T.W.O zones, inner and outer. The day and night indicator at six o’clock might not be the most useful complication, but I find it very attractive and it brings some extra life to the dial. And of course, the circa 60 / 0.63 carat diamonds decorating the bezel!

Speaking about things that changes over time… Remember my Galaxy post from the other day? 33 mm diameter, diamonds on dial – but a mens watch…

Inside is the automatic movement Calibre 898A/1. The base Calibre 898 is the same as used in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic 1958 (898/1 central seconds but no day and night indicator).

Beautifully decorated with Geneva bars and pink gold rotor. What I really like here is the case/movement ratio! Looking at the open case back, how the movement fills the case properly, big crystal showing almost the full width of the case.

This is how I would love to see more mens watches, instead of a tiny opening in the middle of the case revealing that the case is much larger than the movement…
