DOXA SUB and matching U.S. Divers Co. Depth Gauge

Posted by

Watch collectors are of course very focused on collecting watches… Many collectors including me love the divers watch theme… And some of us have become hooked on the DOXA SUB!

What often is a side effect of collecting divers watches is that you start to collect accessories related, like the depth gauge.

In the early days of scuba diving or skin diving, the depth gauge was as important as the watch itself.

So let’s play a game – matching DOXA SUB with U.S. Divers Co. depth gauge…

I guess one of the most common is the U.S. Divers Co. “Calypso aqua-lung” depth gauge with black dial rated down to 200 feet.

A perfect match would have been a DOXA SUB 300 “aqua-lung” Sharkhunter, but my DOXA Synchron SUB 300T Sharkhunter will have to do for now…

We know that tests showed that orange was the best dial colour when diving, hence the DOXA SUB 300T professional have a orange dial – wouldn’t it be logical to also have orange dial depth gauges?

Yes, it would – and there was! Not as often seen as the black dial, the same model of the U.S. Divers Co. “Calypso aqua-lung” depth gauge with orange dial.

Here the match is better – T.W.O orange “aqua-ling” dials: the DOXA SUB 300T “aqua-lung” Professional and the U.S. Divers Co. “Calypso aqua-lung” depth gauge:

These I must confess I forgot I had… While going through some boxes trying to find one of the clocks I am planning to write about… I stumble upon these…

These depth gauges I picked up long before I started to look into DOXA SUB’s…

Who said to do inventory is not fun…?!

Stay tuned for more DOXA related reports…
