This year, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox celebrates its 70 Years Anniversary!
It has been 70 years since the first model of the Memovox saw the light…
Yesterday, Jaeger-LeCoultre posted a teaser on Instagram – a sound wave and a 24:00:00 count down…
The post only have three hashtags: #TheSoundMaker, #JaegerLeCoultre and #HomeofFineWatchmaking…

Due to the Covid-19, there were no watch fair this year, instead all novelties are presented online…
Next teaser posted was with a 12:00:00 countdown!
This second teaser points straight to the… Memovox! My favourite complication and collecting theme!

Third teaser with a 08:00:00 countdown!
The third teaser indicates an extra functionality on the alarm disk!

Only a couple of hours more and we will know…!
Back in 1950 when the very first Memovox was presented in Basel at the Swiss Watch Fair, online did not exist!
You had to go to the fair or wait until the novelties to reached your local retailer…

First of many was the reference 3150, easily recognised by the tube lugs – as far as I know, the only Memovox to date with these kind of lugs.
Interesting to see that the name on the dial in this scan is LeCoultre – could it be that the very first batch of the 3150 was aimed for the U.S. market?

Since the release of the 3150 Memovox, there has been a lot of different models and Calibres!
Different shapes, case metals, dial colours… Different types of Memovox movements – manual, manual with date, automatic, automatic with date, …
There even been a Perpetual Calendar Moon Phases Memovox and a Quartz Chronograph Memovox, even if the later did not carry the Memovox name, it was still a wrist watch with alarm…
Last time there were any extra feature on the alarm disk of a Jaeger-LeCoultre version of the Memovox was back in 2010 for the 60 years Anniversary of the Memovox.
The Master Memovox International which have the different time zones on the dial represented by city names:

Before that – we must go all the way back to 1958 to find any extra feature on the alarm disk of a Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox!
All the way back to the 125 Years Jubilé Collection – 3160 Memovox International and 3161 Memovox Parking:

So, this will be the forth time in 70 years…
Only a couple of hours more and the watch will be relieved – I am very excited to see what Jaeger-LeCoultre have made for their 70 Years Anniversary of the Memovox!
Stay tuned!
