Another Girad-Perregaux Olimpico Chronograph which was featured in the T.W.O Olimpico week on Instagram! If you missed it, make sure to check it out! @___t.w.o___
Here is a closer look on the reference 9245 Olimpico.
According to Griard-Preegaux records, 1000 pieces of the reference 9245 were produced in 1976.
1976, to put some perspectives –
Here in Sweden, the King Carl Gustaf marries Queen Silvia!

The Swedish pop group ABBA is played on the radio, both in Sweden and all over the world! Money, Money, Money… Knowing me, knowing you… Dancing Queen…

And the computer company Apple is formed by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak!

OK, now you know in what era we are, let’s have a closer look at the Girard-Perregaux reference 9245 Olimpico chronograph: it differs from the other Olimpico’s from Girard-Perregaux. While the others are three sub-dials 12 hours chronographs, the 9245 is “only” a two sub-dials 30 minutes chronograph.

The two sub-dial configuration makes the 9245 a perfectly symmetrical watch, only thing breaking the symmetry are the crown and pushers.
The wide tonneau shaped case is very Funky 70’s, 40 mm x 42.5 mm with integrated 20 mm lugs.
All 1000 pieces were in stainless steel, two dial version exist – grey-blue like mine and white. To see the white dial version, make sure to visit the GPChronicle.com

The inverted sub-dial colours gives the watch the typical “Panda” look. In combination with the many different bevels and curves, different type of surface polishing of the case, the Panda dial makes the 9245 a very interesting watch to look at.
Look at the bevels, look at the sharp lines… Look at the brushed surfaces connected by polished surfaces… Big bulky, Funky 70’s… Yet with an elegance!

Screw down case back, yes – this one came to me as NOS, sticker on back…
Which makes it challenging to wear but I do, carefully!

Inside is the GP caliber 24-0, 13 lines based on the Valjoux 236, 21.600 vph.

On the wrist, the 9245 is “all and more”! Cool, good looking, comfortable and eye-catching. One that stands out from the crowd!
Yes, another vintage pearl from La Chaux de Fond!

Stay tuned – we will have a closer look on more Olimpico’s here!
