Last week Jaeger-LeCoultre announced the new Limited Edition of the Polaris Date.
A limited edition of 800 pieces with a deep blue toned dial.

In general I think this will be a hit. From the press release pics, it looks very appealing! Blue and toned “fume” dial, very much what has been in fashion lately…
Personally, my first thought when I saw the pictures was…
What if these T.W.O would be naked and get down, get busy… What would the results be…?!

Offspring’s are always a result of the parents… It’s just a matter of – who’s genes are the strongest?
Here I guess that the E 859 has the dominant genes…

But the E 870 genes obviously shine through the dial…

My guess is that their offspring would look very similar to this…!

This is not the first time Jaeger-LeCoultre mixed the DNA from different watches…
Personally I am not very found of this mix-and-match thing. I prefer “one original – one tribute”. The reason is not only due to history and how it originally was…
It has also to do with the fact that, since Jaeger-LeCoultre decided to play the “Tribute Game”… If they take the DNA from T.W.O different references and mix them, there is one less chance for them to continue playing the game…
Here is another example where Jaeger-LeCoultre clearly mixed different references: The Geophysic E 168 cross dressed as a Geomatic E 399, the result – Geophysic True Second…

As said, personally I am not a big fan of mixing different references into one… But yes, it sure looks good! Love the Polaris, love blue…

It will be interesting to see if it sells well. If yes, I guess we can expect a grey and a red version soon as well… At least if Jaeger-LeCoultre choose to follow in the footsteps of the E 870…
