The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Memovox was the first attempt by the Manufacture in Le Sentier, Vallée de Joux to make a watch inspired by the ledgend from the 1960’s, the Polaris.
Second attempt was the AMVOX I – Aston Martin Memovox!
Aston Martin as in Aston Martin the luxury car manufacture and Memovox from Latin, Memo – memory, Vox – voice. Memovox, the voice of your memory. To remind, warn and awake!

This second stab at making a Polaris inspired watch, AMVOX I is visually a bit closer to the original but in some aspects not.
The case now have all three crowns on the same side, the case shape and lugs are more similar and the alarm is back to be a rotating disk instead of a window.
But the design of the numbers and alarm track is more inspired of a car speedometer and the hands…
The calypso minute hand I suspect is inspired from a document showing the original Polaris with this kind of hand. In real I never saw an original Polaris with such hand. There has been some examples, but all have looked suspicious to me. If they ever existed, it must have been very, very few.

Another detail closer to the original Polaris are the holes on the case back. The original have 16 holes while the AMVOX I only have 14.

On thing that I never understood why, is the fact that the AMVOX I is not a divers watch. The waterproof rating is only 5 ATM/50 meters which classify this watch more as a leisure sports watch than a divers watch.
OK, not a diver, but for sure a wonderful leisure sports watch!
